As December kicks off, the Texas poker landscape continues to sizzle. With noteworthy poker tournaments taking center stage in Houston, Austin and Dallas, The Lone Star State is the premier spot for poker players this month.

Nothing is small in Texas. That includes the guaranteed tournament prize pools throughout December.

Texas online poker remains illegal, so if you want dealt in, you’ll have to pull up a chair at a table in a card room across the state.

Main Event wraps up at The Lodge

The Winter Main Event may be wrapping up, but The Lodge has plenty to offer in December. The poker room in Round Rock will host “The Art of Poker” at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec 16. The buy-in is $250 and comes with a $40,000 guaranteed prize pool. Players will start with 25,000 in chips. The winner gets an exclusive trophy and set of headphones.

The Lodge will be home to 50 for 50 tournaments on Dec. 3 and Dec. 30. The $50,000 guaranteed prize pool tournaments cost $500 to enter. Each player starts with a deep stack of 50,000 in chips.

The Lodge features daily and weekly poker tournaments all month.

  • $250 NLH Deep Stack: 12:15 p.m. Sundays ($15,000 guaranteed)
  • $100 NLH Bounty: 12:15 p.m. Mondays ($2,000)

For December, The Lodge is featuring a $100,000 giveaway. Each hour, one player will receive a lucky seat ticket. Here’s how it works:

  • The lucky seat in the room will be chosen at random.
  • The exact time of the drawing each hour will be decided by a random number generator (not just at the top of every hour).
  • The member in that seat (whether it be cash or a tournament) will get a special ticket.
  • On Jan. 1, one ticket-holder will be randomly chosen to win the $100,000 grand prize.
  • Twenty additional winners will be randomly chosen to win $500 or a free annual membership (10 of each)
