Breaking Down The Texas Live Poker Calendar In January 2024

The new year means new tournaments for the Texas poker community.

Noteworthy poker series, including the Moneymaker Tour, will take place this month. Guaranteed tournament prize pools continue to offer excitement in 2024.

Each month, PlayTexas will highlight the best poker action in The Lone Star State. These stories will focus on live poker because, as of right now, online poker in Texas is only permitted for sweepstakes contests, not for real money.

Lodge kicks off 2024 with a Mini Monster

The Lodge is guaranteeing $400,000 in its Mini Monster event happening in January. The poker room in Round Rock will be the home of the multi-flight event that starts on Jan. 11. Each day, there will be two tournaments to pick from, one at 11 a.m., the other at 5 p.m.

These flights will run until Jan. 20. Day 2 will take place on Jan. 21, when all the survivors will come together to battle it out. The buy-in is $200. Players start with 25,000 in chips. As a special bonus, the Day 2 chip leader will get $2,000.

For the ladies, The Lodge will host a women’s tournament on Jan. 6 at 12:15 p.m. The $100 buy-in is part of a series event. Players will earn points each month to earn a spot in the End of Series Championship Tournament.

Besides the Mini Monster, The Lodge will run daily poker tournaments throughout January.

  • $250 NLH Deep Stack: 12:15 p.m. Sundays ($15,000 guaranteed)
  • $100 NLH Bounty: 12:15 p.m. Mondays ($2,000 guaranteed)
  • $30 NLH Freeroll: 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays ($15,000 guaranteed)
  • $30 PLO Freeroll: 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays ($5,000 guaranteed)
  • $30 NLH: 7:15 p.m. Thursdays ($7,500 guaranteed)
  • $120 NLH Freezeout: 7:15 p.m. Fridays ($4,000 guaranteed)
  • $100 NLH Freezeout: 7:15 p.m. Saturdays ($3,000 guaranteed)

In other news, the controversial high-roller Nik Airball will return to play live on Jan. 13 and 14 at the Lodge.

Moneymaker coming to Houston Texas Card House

The Chris Moneymaker Tour is making an appearance at Houston Texas Card House in January. From Jan. 10 to 22, the club will host 12 tournaments in the series, including a Main Event. The series promises a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The Main Event will be a multi-flight $1,500 buy-in tournament. This event will post $250,000. The final table will livestream on Jan. 22.

Other standout events in the tournament include:

  • Event 3 – $300 NLH Re-entry: Jan. 11-15 ($150,000 guaranteed)
  • Event 5 – $300 NLH Super Deepstack: Jan. 15 ($50,000 guaranteed
  • Event 11 – $50 NLH Mayhem Friday: Jan. 19 ($10,000 guaranteed)

It’s Freeroll City at Shuffle 512 in Austin

Every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday in January, the Shuffle 512 Poker Room will offer a freeroll. The South Austin poker club allows players to get a piece of the $1,500 event for only $30. The tournament does not allow rebuys nor add-ons.

Each week, poker players have a few tournament options at the club.

  • $30 NLH Tournament: 7 p.m. Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays ($1,500 guaranteed)

The Royal Card House in San Antonio has weekend events for players looking for some action after the work week. The 10-table poker room offers two events each weekend:

  • $160 NLH 60,000 NLH Start Stack Freezeout: 6 p.m. Fridays ($3,000 guaranteed)
  • $70 NLH 25,000 NLH Start Stack: 6 p.m. Saturdays ($2,000 guaranteed)

Rounders Club has a cure for the Holiday Hangover

For players in the San Antonio region, The Rounders Club has a Holiday Hangover event you won’t want to miss. The $240 buy-in has a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool. This tournament began Jan. 1.

Recently, Texas local Kasey Lyn Mills went on the Nerdthusiast Poker Podcast and discussed the budding Texas poker scene. Mills said poker in Texas features the best games in the country at the moment.
