How to bet on UTEP football online

If you’re just starting out betting on Miners football or sports in general, you may run into some confusion over common betting terms. Let’s cover some of the most popular college football bet types, so you can more confidently wager on UTEP football.

What is the UTEP football point spread?

In college football especially, some games are so one-sided that a moneyline bet holds no real appeal. The odds are so slanted and the potential profit so small that bettors simply choose not to wager on them.

The point spread, however, creates additional value by making the game more “even” for the underdog. Oddsmakers assign the favorite a number of points they are expected to win by. If they can’t win by that amount or more, bets on the underdog would pay out.

To shout out a favorite, FanDuel Sportsbook has great college football point spread odds. For those looking for competitive UTEP Miners betting lines, we encourage shopping for the best odds on FanDuel.

Here’s a hypothetical UTEP point spread example:

  • UTEP Miners -8.5 (-110)
  • Old Dominion Monarchs +8.5 (-110)

The UTEP squad needs to win this game by at least nine points for bets on its side to win. Any other outcome, such as winning by eight points or losing outright, would mean the underdog wins.

As for the odds, -110 is about as close as you’ll find to even odds. They’re not truly even because the sportsbook always takes its fee (or “vig”). But that -110 is showing the amount you need to bet in order to win $100 in profit.

What is the UTEP football moneyline?

Moneyline bets are the easiest to explain in all sports betting. You have two teams facing each other on the gridiron, and you pick which one you believe will win.

Pick correctly, and your payout is based on how much you’ve wagered and the odds when you finalized your bet.

BetMGM is one of the best-known sportsbooks in the country, and its moneyline opportunities are numerous, especially in college football. You can bet on the most popular teams in the country and state of Texas. Both the BetMGM Sportsbook site and BetMGM betting app are valuable tools in a sports bettor’s arsenal.

Here’s a UTEP moneyline example:

  • UTEP Miners                           -145
  • New Mexico State Aggies    +185

The negative odds indicate that the UTEP squad is the favorite to win this rivalry game. Negative odds show you how much you need to wager in order to win $100. So a $145 bet on UTEP would potentially pay out $245, which is the original bet returned and a $100 profit.

Positive odds on New Mexico State tell us the amount of money we stand to win for every $100 we bet. So a $250 bet on the Aggies would pay out $712.50, which includes $462.50 in winnings.

UTEP football over/under (totals) bets

Oddsmakers use various methods and algorithms to predict final scores. They then utilize that prediction for totals bets, also known as over/unders.

You are tasked with figuring out if the two teams are capable of combining to score over or under that total points prediction.

Caesars online sportsbook has earned a reputation for having a solid variety of betting opportunities, and totals bets are an appealing component. Competitive lines and an easy-to-use betting app have Caesars poised to become a sports betting favorite in Texas (once the practice is legalized.)

If you’re looking for an example of a totals bet, we have one below:

  • Over         50.5 (-110)
  • Under      50.5 (-110)

If the final score between the two teams ends up being 27-21, then the total only adds up to 48 points, which means bets on the under would pay out at $100 for every $110 wagered.

UTEP Miners prop bets

Prop bets typically focus on a precise element of in-game action or concern some metric of player/team performance. Markets range from serious to downright silly.

That said, prop bets are notoriously difficult to research. It is hard to guess how well a player is going to perform at times, and even more so to try to guess over/under prop bet opportunities.

DraftKings Sportsbook has one of the finest selections of prop bets for college football. The more popular the teams or anticipated the matchup, the more likely there will be even more prop bets than usual.

An example of a prop bet might look like this:

Will the UTEP Miners football team have over/under 3.0 turnovers in the game?

  • Over (+155) or Under (+130)

You will also find a lot of prop bets if you participate in live betting, which will likely be found at most every legal online Texas sportsbook.

As always, don’t be afraid to shop around for the most appealing prop bet selections and odds.
